I recently went to a small tournament in another town.  I was able to go and  play rather than run this so it was refeshing but I remember why many places fail wiht their tournaments. I was impressed with the turnout as 18 people played at this local tournament.  As there was no painting many of the newer players could compete with the hope of doing well.  Unfortunately there was also no composition or sportsmanship so theexperienced players brought their hardest over the top slugfest and hammered on the competetion.   I did have a fun time as I took my average hard dwarf army of 150 warriors and  3 warmachines. The peoblem with this sort of tournament is that it must be discouraging for the newer players to get hammered by the better players and the brutal armies.  Further the store is not encouraging people to paint nice armies so they are not bringing painted armies.  Thus the store loses the free advertisement of nicely painted armies.  Finally while this is fun occasionally they should mix it up a bit and as this encourages people to buy more stuff.
