I have noticed that the tournametn armies I have the most trouble against are the fear causing and avoid combat armies. These seem to be the armies that my Ogres are best against. They have fast enough movement and hit hard enough to really hurt both fear causing and combat avoiding armies. Now I do not play the standard MSU Ogres but I think even these would do well against such opponents. Now I also play a lot of fun games withthe Ogres and I seem to have far greater trouble with these weaker armies then with the ultimate min maxed armies. I guess this makes an interesting counter to the tournament beat sticks.

Re: Ogres the ultimate tournament army
Couldn't you just keep your main army (i.e. dwarfs) take out a few special or core units and use some ogres as dogs of war? This makes it possible to keep the play strategy you are best with while being able to cope with the fear causing and avoid combat armies.

I could substitute an ogre DOW for a dwarf unit thus getting dwarven anti magic and an ogre fear causer. I am not a fan of DOW but as an option it is a good one.
