After years of playing dwarves as an attacking horde army or an attacking elite army I might have to rethink my strategy.  It seems that the armies I play recently are small with very specialized strike forces and lots of magic.  So an anti magic shooting army might be the way to go.  Dwarves can put down a lot of good shooting with Organ guns, cannons, and Thunderers.  When facing 75 elves, 40 deamons,  or 60 undead this might be all you need.  After all 6 units of 10 thunderers 3 cannons and 2 rares are under 1400 pts. Now you can still get a fair amout of stuff in a 2250pt game and this should deal with the small armies
