Over the weeend I went to Syracuse for a little local tournament.  I was looking to test a list for the Baltimore Gt and they frequently have players with the uber tough army du joir.  Now I had a really good time at the tournament and played a two great games.  I also played 2 demons, and a dark elf army.  This is what I wanted and though I won the tournament I felt my tooled up dwarven horde was underpowered even though I played two fun and themed armies. I had worked my army to make it as tight as I could and my opponents were playing fun armies and this was a very tough game.  I knew the newer books would be tough but I was still shocked by the disperaty of power. This is nothing new and I have always attributed this to the difficulties of balance in a game so varied.  This time though it seems there was a design to the power creap.  This whole edition has had stronger and stronger books come out which I never thought was their idea but at the tournament I saw people who owned other armies but bought a new army as it was tougher.  I seemed that this is the desired effect and now I wonder if we can expect more the same in the near future.
