One of the things I hate in games is rolling dice for the sake of rolling dice. I want there to be some thought which is required and I like the thought aspect to be more important than the dice rolling part. Unfortunately most people like to roll dice. So here is where Kingsburg a great game by Fantasy Flight Games comes in. It is a real interesting game where the dice rolling is a major factor but what you do with your rolls is more important. The basic idea of the game is to use your dice rolls to influence advisors each of which grant some resource which you use to build buildings. The only problem is each advisor can only grant the resource to one player each phase. So placement of the dice is very strategic and can hose other players. Of course then you need to build sensibly to get bonuses, defend against attacks, and score victory points. Best of all the game plays in about an hour and you will wish it went another turn. All in all it would make a great game for both the serious and casual gamer.
