Gladiique Scoparum
To Kill a King
It was another war and as Aethelmarc had banished me I was fighting against them. This was not uncommon but unlike other years it was not just my household but Myrkfaelynn and Confed had both joined us in rebellion. Now I have nothing against the king of Aethelmarc as Ruric is a good guy but it is the principle of things, after all I did not get a banishment scroll, have never been pardoned, nor even received an explanation. So in the woods we went out not knowing who we were going to find under the branched but fate had decided that we would find Aethelmarc. Now as this is a 90 minute resurrection battle we would end up seeing a lot of each other. During this time I noticed that they were ignoring their flanks so I started organizing pushes on the far left. These were often wildly successful as several times we pushed them way back, rolling them up. It was during one of these success that I noticed their line had broken into two distinct units and I was behind the one with the king. So I took off running toward the king’s group. In my path were a couple of fighters who I dispatched and was able to come up behind the King beat down his spear, look him right in the face, and kill the king. Then I blocked a few shots and retreated back to my lines. King Rurik immediately started yelling about how could this happen, who let Boldo back there, and why did not his bodyguard kill me. I thought perhaps I had done something wrong so I went forward to apologize but he told me I was fine it was others who had failed him. And Kyndylan killed him three other times with a spear.

The Baron’s Refusal

It was the last day of the War and we were stuck in an old school bridge battle. If you never experienced the joy of one of these brain storms then you have missed nothing. As it is to the last man no one does anything and both sides sit on their side of the river waiting. Sure we could crawl across the river or walk across the bridge but no one did. During this hour of excitement Spyke the Unshaven the Champion of Thescore saw our baron fighting on the other side. So he crawled out into the river and challenged the baron. As this got no response he did it again louder. After a few bellows the baron finally responded that he was afraid to get wet. So Spyke offered to crawl across and fight him on land which was declined by the claim that Baron Grendel was allergic to blue plastic armor. Which was odd as Spyke has white plastic armor.

Later in the battle Aethelmarc entered the river, with the baron in tow, and crawled into the middle before they settled down to wait. So out we went all seven of us to challenge them. They started to withdraw so we engaged and Kyndylan speared the baron in the gut and the face but he did not die. Then after a few more fruitless shots Kyndylan died and they crawled off with the Baron still hiding in the back. Thus I learned that what Thescore is led by is that rare bird the Yellow Baron which is usually identified by its shinny armor, false bravado, and courage of Brave Sir Robin.
