Baltimore GT

Nick's Tale

My thoughts on Baltimore.
This was my first GT and I have to say that this was so much fun! I had some great games and
met some very nice players. There were great armies and great paint job there too. I had two goals
in the GT. One of the goals was to beat a dark elves player name joe which I did by a single
point. The Other goal was to have fun and I did that too!!
My first game was great, I played against Empire:
The Empire had 4 blocks of knight and 2 units of scouts. My fell bat kick ass in this battle by scoring
both units of scouts. My goal was to kill his General and his battle standard. My two unit of
skeleton with my hero and General did this nicely. My one unit Ghouls killed his Pistoliers. The only
things he destoryed were my Zombies, Dire Wolves and the bat swarm. How I got his General was
very cool, I charge my General out of the unit to make his General's unit flee off the board. It was 9
inches so my skeleton could not make the charge but my General has a 12 inches charge range.
The final score was 16 for me and 8 for him.
I like his army very much because look like big scouting force that hit hard for the first turn and
moved very fast around your opponent.
My second game was ok but he got confuse on the scenerio and that cost him the game. His
army was dogs of war that he play badly. I was playing on the big river board that had a huge river in
the middle, this board sucks. The goal was to take the 6 objective that I took and score me the
win. I crush him badly but I enjoyed his army very much because the last dogs of war player that I played
had a poorly build army. His army was 3 blocks of knights and two unit of crossbowmen. The crossbowmen
brought my skeletons with General to 12( wow) but my magic was strong and I made 12 skeleton in
one round. At the end I control all 6 of his objective and destory 1/3 of his army.
The final score was 20 for me and 5 for him.
By the 3 game I was very sleeply because I had gotten less then 4 hours sleep the night before, because I needed to paint
my army. The board that I was playing on was river board again. The scenario was messagers.
My third game was against VC army. His army had 8 power dices and book of arkhan on wraiths
with cursed book. He was fun to play but he came with little cheesy army. You had to see him
play it was amazing. He was doing things I never though of with my VC. By 4 turn I wake up and
realizes that I was getting my ass kick. So I went for broke! I charge my hero, General,
Necromancer and my last messager out of the units to kill something. It did not work at all. My
magic did not do @#%$ to kill his last messager but the good news is that he liked my army and
talk to me how I was doing in the tournment, so that was nice.
The final score was 5 for me and 20 for him.
The 4 game did not last very long. This was a great ass whipping for me by bretonnians. His
army had 6 small block of 10 kights. That's it! My army had a big problem with knights.
My opponent blocked my magic for 2 turns and double charged my 2 units of sketeltons and my
Zombies. By turn 4 my sketeltons and zombies were destoryed. It was over in 20 min. After the
battle he said, my army was weak and had no punch to it. He also said that I should take some
black knights for my army. This was the only bad game I had.
The score was 5 for me and 20 for him
Day 2
The first game of Day 2 was against Dwarfs
His army was 3 unit of warriors with hand weapon and shield. One unit slayers and one unit of
Warriors with Great wepon. One unit of Scouts and thunderers. No warmachines in his army. I like
his army very much as it was wierd that he had no warmachines.
I made one mistake right in the beginning I did not put my General in the middle of my army. This
was not good for me at all. I never faced slayers before and I was not going to mess round with the
big unit of 25 slayers. I move up against his army very fast. Some bad roll on my part cost
me the game. Bat swarm did not hold the slayers like I wanted. They got crush by the slayers who
ran in to my ghouls and destoryed them too. My thrall with his unit of Skeletons was crushed
because he could not kill anything. My General was blocked by my dire Wolves so I could save my
Zombies unit. I had a great game plan but it was crushed by mistakes and bad rolling. I had lots
of fun playing against him because he was a great dwarf player. I enjoy this game and that is the most
important thing in my mind.
5 for me and for him 19
The second game of Day 2 was against Khemri.
This army scared the crap out of me. I have never play against Khemri and I'd never seen anybody use
them before. The Victory Conditions were to destroy the objectives or defend them. I pick to
defend them. That would make him came to me. His army had a Tomb lord, two Liche Priest, 2
units of skeletons and 1 small with bows and 2 units of Cavalry and 3 skeletons charioteers.
I won the roll off so I make him go first. He move all units up and shot his skull Catapult killing my
thrall and 7 skeletons (wow). I move two units up and put my ghouls into the woods and
my zombies against his 3 Charioteers. He crushed my zombies and leaving only 3 zombies in the
unit. I use my magic to bring my zombies up to 17 and charge the charioteers with my fell bats.
In two more turn I destory his whole army. He was little bit of a goof in my mind challenging my
Count with his Liche Priest that I over killed nicely. After destory the skeleton unit with the liche
Priest I charge his Tomb Guard unit with his Tomb lord in it and then he challenge my Strigoi
Count. So I beat him dead in one turn and destory the Tomb Guard unit. At the end he had 1 unit
skeleton warriors, half his Skeleton bowmen, and 2 units cavalry that I half score as well.
I got 20 and he got 8.
I could have made his score a 5 but after I score the full 20 I did not care so I let him score some
stuff by making some bad charges.
